Every salon has a beginning. Ours began with a woman, a chair, and a determination forged by the challenges she faced.
Meena’s Beauty Salon first opened in Surrey, British Columbia in 1996, long before it became the established, community loved brand people know today. At the time, Meena was a highly skilled stylist looking for work, but opportunities were limited. Many employers overlooked her, not because of her ability, but because she was an immigrant woman of colour trying to build a life in a place that did not always feel welcoming.
Rather than letting those experiences hold her back, she chose a different path. If no one would give her a chair, she would create her own.
That decision, bold, brave, and grounded in quiet strength, shaped everything that came next.
Built from Resilience, Grown with Love
Meena opened her first salon with very little, except for her hands, her heart, and her reputation among the local community. Word spread quickly not through advertising, but through neighbours, families, and brides whose experiences spoke louder than any signboard ever could.
Clients walked in for services, but they returned because they felt genuinely cared for.
That first little salon in Surrey became a safe space for women, newcomers, mothers, working professionals anyone looking not just for beauty services, but a sense of comfort and belonging. Over the years, the salon grew, moved, evolved, and ultimately expanded into Ontario, where Meena’s vision continued to flourish.
From One Chair to a Multi-Location Brand
What began as a single founding location has now grown into a recognized beauty brand with the ambition to operate as a multi-location franchise across Canada. Our philosophy has stayed the same from day one:

Before Meena opened her doors, she carried years of experience shaped by both tradition and training:

- A gentle approach that clients still describe as comforting and precise
And now, the next generation is taking those foundations and building something even bigger – a brand that can expand across Canada while still keeping the heart of its origin.
